Letter From the Chairman

Dear Friends and Patriots,

Welcome to the 16th annual Tee It Up for the Troops golf event at Mendakota Country Club. As we continue through the second decade of patriotic golf events here at Mendakota involving Tee It Up for the Troops, we are very appreciative of your support and the long lasting relationships that have been developed.

Over the past fifteen plus years, Tee It Up for the Troops has grown from this single event to having now hosted over 500 similar events nationally. The strong start with this event and the subsequent events has allowed Tee It Up for the Troops to donate over $11,000,000 to highly recognized veteran service organizations that provide critically needed services to help our veterans to heal, transition, grow and thrive. Tee It Up for the Troops targets its support across these critical areas of need:

  • Treatment of PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injuries: the hidden wounds of war
  • Suicide Awareness and Prevention: reducing veteran suicides
  • Employment: veteran unemployment rate is much higher than the national average
  • Sports and Recreation: both adaptive and rehabilitative
  • Family and Caregiver Support: strong family + strong caregiver = strong warrior
  • Housing: homelessness, plus transitional and comfort housing while receiving treatment

We also continue to strengthen veterans through our national REUNION program in which we have reunited over 400 combat veterans who were separated due to battlefield injuries, changes in rehabilitation, or other reasons beyond their control.

Tee It Up for the Troops also is proud of our record in responsible management of the funds derived from our many events. Our national board is 100% volunteers, our advisory board is 100% volunteers, our fifty plus national events are 99% managed by volunteers, and our national office consists of 4 full-time and 3 part-time employees. Thus, our general and administrative (overhead) expenses are currently tracking at less than 5%!

I would also like to thank my fellow committee members and the supportive national staff for their hours of work and dedication to making this another successful event.

Thank you for your support,

Rick Dale
